It is now only 3 months till the gates open on the 2010 Queensland Garden Expo and plans for another great event are taking shape. There is a very exciting major prize draw this year and entry into this draw is free to everyone visiting the event. We'll have more details about the fantastic prize you could win, just by attending the expo, shortly.
There has been great interest from landscapers this year and we are expecting to be inspired by some very creative display gardens this year as they vie to win the Channel 7 Landscape Challenge. With 8 great designs showcasing a range of landscape styles we are sure that there will be lots of inspiring ideas that you can incorporate into your own garden.
Gardening Talk. The key to successful gardening is good, sound, expert advice and information and Qld Garden Expo is the place to talk to the experts. Colin Campbell, Annette McFarlane, Ross McKinnon, Phil Dudman and Paul Plant lead a team of speakers who will deliver expert advice to help you achieve the best results in your garden. Also make sure you visit some of the specialist talks. Rod Hultgren will have some great tips on Rose Growing, Peter Young from Birdwood Nursery can help you out with everything you need to know about Fruit Trees, Darryl Baptie of Camellia Glen will be talking about Camellia Growing, Nick Hansa from Fairhill Native Plants can help you out with hints for growing a beautiful native garden and Peter Heaton from Heatons Ferns can show you how to grow that perfect maidenhair fern. The full program of Lectures and Demonstration will soon be finalised and we will have more in coming issues.
The Giant Kitchen Garden. This feature continues to grow in popularity each year and is a real source of inspiration and information for gardeners who are interested in growing organic herbs and vegetables and learning more about permaculture gardening. Jerry Coleby-Williams will open the program of lectures and demonstrations on Friday morning and will be followed by a non-stop program over the three days. The full 3 day program will be finalised soon and we will have more details in the next newsletter. This year Yandina Community Gardens have set aside an area to grow the more unusal plants used in the display garden and these are all coming along well.
It's Never too early to think about Mothers Day. The Expo 3 Day Gold Pass is a fantastic gift idea for gardening enthusiasts. A Great Family Day Out. We have got some fantastic free activities lined up for the kids at this years Expo. On Saturday and Sunday there will be Eco-tainment Shows twice daily with lots of fun, interactive activities with an environmental slant. There will also be the free childrens playground which includes a giant slide, jumping castle and merry-go-round. The Zinc96.1FM Team have games and giveaways on Saturday. There is FREE entry to the Garden Expo for children 15 years and under (accompanied by an adult). This is a great way to entertain the kids at the end of the school holidays and enjoy a family day out.
