The Sunshine Coast is a beautiful place, and that is what visitors from all around Australia will discover when they come to the 4th annual Caloundra Music Festival. The beautiful Kings Beach will come alive with a celebration of the environment, cultural achievements and community pride. The festival is a treat for eyes and ears and there is no better way to enjoy the 'sun surf and soul' of the Sunshine Coast and its beautiful surrounds than by joining in the celebrations.
Being held from 8-10 October, the family-friendly festival will include a diverse line-up of entertainment from well-known Australian and international performers, as well as a free community “Village” featuring emerging artists, multi cultural groups, schools and community ensembles, a colourful street parade, buskers, roving performers and free children's entertainment. Visitors and locals will see their favourite bands performing in spectacular ocean-side settings and emerging artists in the local parks, pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants.
The beautiful Kings Beach amphitheatre will be the main ticketed location for the festival. Ticket sales to the main amphitheatre will help to sustain the rest of the festival where "the whole area becomes a stage" and will include free and community based activities in the “Village”. The “Village” will be set along the Kings Beach foreshore and extend along the beautiful Coastal Boardwalk to Happy Valley at Bulcock Beach.
Visitors will be entertained by buskers, surf dancers and street performers as they stroll along the beautiful coastal boardwalk and through the streets of Caloundra. Ships will pass by, and the skies will be alive with kite surfers and sky divers as locals and visitors wine, dine and dance in the cafes, restaurants and venues around the foreshores and throughout the city.
Community groups will be encouraged to organise activities to coincide with the festival with visitors being encouraged to visit our coastal and hinterland attractions and given the opportunity to enjoy the additional community activities on offer. Community groups will be offered opportunities to run food stalls and conduct fund-raising activities within the festival village.
VENUE/LOCATION
Kings Beach Park features a specialised amphitheatre with a purpose built covered stage set amongst grassy parklands with an ocean backdrop. Council has invested $12m into the area which boasts first class amenities including a swimming pool, water fountains, children’s parks and picnic areas, a stunning coastal walk and a spectacular surf beach with views to Moreton Island.
The main ticketed arena is the Kings Beach amphitheatre which will be fenced with a comfortable capacity of 7000 people. The venue will include a public bar and a VIP bar.
A number of local venues will partner with the festival by hosting performances within their venues as an integral part of the program.
The free community “Village” will operate along the Kings Beach foreshore and down to Happy Valley at Bulcock Beach.
Additional venues throughout the region will be invited to participate in the festival by hosting entertainment. These venues will be advertised in all event marketing activities so that the festival will grow beyond its single location and cater for increased visitations.
